Protect Affordable Health Coverage
Tell Congress to Extend the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits
Thousands of Hispanic business owners and their employees are about to pay much more for health insurance. You can help stop it.
Keep Health Insurance Affordable in Florida
In Florida, more than 600,000 small business owners and self-employed workers get their health coverage through the individual Marketplace. Those insurance plans are more affordable due to the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (EPTCs), which lower premiums by hundreds or thousands of dollars per year. Those tax credits have been a key driver of recent coverage gains, especially among Florida’s growing Hispanic business community.
By making Marketplace plans more affordable, the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits have helped reduce uninsured rates and individual healthcare costs.
But…
The Enhanced Premium Tax Credits are set to expire in 2025. When that happens, most Floridians enrolled in Marketplace plans will see their premiums skyrocket, forcing them to choose between cutting back on daily expenses or going uninsured.
4.8 million
Hispanic Americans enrolled in Marketplace coverage in 2024.
29% of total enrollment and a 185% increase since 2020 – driven largely by Enhanced Premium Tax Credits
... But about 970,000 will lose health coverage if Congress lets these tax credits expire in 2025.
Why it Matters
For many Hispanic small business owners and workers across Florida, individual Marketplace plans are the only option for health coverage – and the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits make it affordable.
If the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits expire…
Lost Coverage
Hispanic workers could experience some of the worst coverage losses, with about half of Hispanic employees at small firms losing insurance altogether.
Higher Premiums
A Florida couple in their early 60s earning $80,000 would see their annual premiums skyrocket by $13,539. Real people will be forced to make difficult decisions, like taking on debt or going uninsured.
Weaker Economy
Florida could lose over 49,000 jobs, with a $5.5 billion GDP decline and $301.4 million in state and local tax revenues.
What's at Stake?
Nearly 4 million
Americans, including at least 1 million Hispanic individuals, could become uninsured
Nearly half
of Hispanic Marketplace enrollees say they would drop coverage if premiums skyrocket
